Duties:
To ascertain the arrangement and order of operations, examine and comprehend technical drawings, welding requirements, and blueprints.
Install and run welding equipment, such as flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), stick, TIG, and MIG.
Use welding torches, grinders, and thermal cutting equipment to cut, shape, and join metal objects.
To guarantee correct fit and dimension, align components with calipers, rulers, clamps, and jigs.
Execute surface and structural welds in various orientations (overhead, vertical, horizontal, and flat).
Examine welds visually and do quality checks for flaws such undercutting, porosity, and cracking.
Follow all health and safety guidelines, including as wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and keeping your workspace hygienic and risk-free.
Work together with engineers, managers, and other welders to guarantee that the project is completed on schedule and that all specifications are met.
Keep tools and equipment in excellent operating order and report issues as soon as they arise.
Maintain thorough records of the tasks you perform, the resources you use, and the amount of time you spend on them.
Qualification:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Proven work experience as a welder in a manufacturing, industrial, or construction setting.
Strong working knowledge of welding tools, techniques, and safety procedures.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
Proficient in welding multiple materials and thicknesses.
Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy materials and stand for long periods.
Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
Preferred:
Certification for welding (AWS, ASME, or comparable).
Familiarity with using brake presses, CNC plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment.
Understanding of metal characteristics and metallurgy.
Certification in forklift operation or prior expertise with overhead cranes.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Often exposed to loud noises, odors, airborne pollutants, and moving mechanical parts.
Standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting objects weighing up to fifty pounds are all regularly required.
Depending on the needs of the project, it may be possible to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor temperatures.
Wearing the appropriate PPE on the job place is mandatory.
